Apply for a Grant
As KCDD prepares for Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2027, we are pleased to announce that the KCDD grants portal will open for applications as KCDD launches its new Five-Year State Plan (2027–2031). This grant cycle represents the first year of implementation of the new plan and is intentionally designed to align KCDD’s grant investments with the goals, objectives, and priorities that will guide the Council’s work over the next five years.
Developed with input from Council members, self-advocates, families, partners, and community members across Kansas, the new Five-Year State Plan establishes KCDD’s roadmap for advancing meaningful systems change for Kansans with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The FFY 2027 grant cycle is an important part of putting that plan into action by investing in partners and projects that can help move these priorities forward.
Current grantees and new applicants are encouraged to apply. Please note that all organizations currently receiving KCDD grant funding must submit a new application if they wish to continue receiving funding which will open up on October 6th, 2026. Current grant funding will not automatically be renewed, and submitting an application does not guarantee continued funding.
KCDD has a total of $75,000 available for grants beginning January 1, 2027. These funds represent the full amount available for KCDD grants during FFY 2027, and funding is limited. Grant awards will prioritize projects that demonstrate strong and direct alignment with KCDD’s new Five-Year State Plan, address identified needs of Kansans with I/DD and their families, and help translate the Council’s five-year goals into measurable action and systems change. Applicants should clearly identify the State Plan goal(s) and objective(s) their proposed project will advance and describe the outcomes they expect to achieve during the grant period.
All FFY 2027 grant projects will begin January 1, 2027, and all awarded funds must be expended by September 30, 2027.
Organizations are encouraged to carefully review the grant requirements and KCDD’s new Five-Year State Plan (2027–2031) before submitting an application. Because FFY 2027 begins a new five-year planning cycle for KCDD, applicants should not assume that projects or activities funded under the previous plan will automatically continue. Proposals should reflect the direction of the new State Plan and explain how the proposed work will contribute to its goals, objectives, and intended systems-change outcomes.
Current grantees should also be prepared to demonstrate the progress and outcomes of their existing KCDD-funded work and explain how their proposed FFY 2027 project will build on that progress while aligning with the new Five-Year State Plan. KCDD encourages applicants to view this grant cycle as an opportunity to strengthen partnerships, respond to priorities identified by Kansans with I/DD and their families, and help turn the new plan from a statewide vision into concrete action.
